Space Puzzle Molding

You ask the question, we provide the answer

What is SPM?

SPM stands for Space Puzzle Molding - it is a combined rapid tooling and rapid manufacturing method in which series-identical parts are produced in the original material using an injection molding method with high-quality aluminum molds.

What is manufactured in the SPM method?

High-quality, series-identical prototypes and small and exclusive series are manufactured for the automotive, electrical engineering, general apparatus and aviation industries as well as for medical engineering.

Which materials are used?

SPM processes practically every thermoplastic material, such as high temperature resistant PEEK, PPS or PPA, or glass-fiber filled plastics.

What is the maximum part weight?

The maximum part weight is currently 2,500 grams.

What dimensions are possible?

The maximum dimensions are 400 x 600 x 800 millimeters.

What piece numbers can be manufactured?

The output quantity is 500 up to a maximum of 3,000 pieces - depending on different factors used.

What is the maximum locking force in SPM?

The patented SPM mold frame is designed for a locking force of up to 6,500 kN.

What advantages does SPM offer?

  • Fast, low-cost production of complex, series-identical parts in the original material
  • Low-cost production of mold inserts thanks to rapid tooling technology
  • Easy creation of complex part geometries
  • Fast and low-cost mold changes
  • Injection molding faults and flow properties with the original material are detected immediately
  • Injection points can be changed quickly and easily
  • There are no costs for mold construction
